Hi Clarence

How lovely to hear from you.  I am also retired from North Wales Police since 2004, after 30 years service.  I was a Police Constable and an authorized firearms officer.  I worked the local Wrexham area in North Wales finishing as a Radio Communications Operator.

I am visiting together with my wife Christine, son Christopher and his wife Liz, and my two grandchildren Emily and James.  My son was in the Royal Air Force for 17 years and served in Iraq.  He is now a primary school teacher (ages 5-11), and Liz is Head of International Studies in a senior school.

We have travelled extensively in America and love your wonderful country and hospitality shown to us. We have never been to Texas before and are looking for a bit of sun ?? over Easter away from the cold winter and snow we have had.  We are staying just outside Galveston for 2 weeks in 'Escapes to Galveston'  11743 Farm Road 3005, right on the beach.  Hope those horrible hurricanes stay away. We realise the devastation caused by Hurricane Ike.

We would like to see the general area and especially Moody Gardens, Houston Space Centre, and any other interesting tourist sites. We love wine and hope to visit one or two local wineries while there. Christopher and Liz love scuba diving and are arranging a dive as well.

We arrive on Saturday 3 April on flight number AF636, Air France Paris to Houston, arriving at 1.45pm.  We fly out on Friday 16 April at 4.15pm.

We are really looking forward to Texas, Liz has found a relative researching his family tree, who lives just outside Houston.

We have downloaded information from the internet but have not been able to find a good map yet.

Kind regards.

 Alan

 Hi Alan,

Texas IPA Region 36 looks forward to you and your family visiting Texas!
I am the IPA Texas Region 36 President.  I am a retired (since 2004) Houston Police Department Sergeant.  I retired after 40 years on being on the job, to my hometown of Huntsville, Texas, which is 40 miles North of Houston.  While on the job I was assigned to both uniform and plain clothes divisions - radio patrol as an officer and sergeant, and several divisions of non uniform in human resources, recruiting and administration.

My wife and I have adult children who are  living away from home.

In retirement, we enjoy traveling via cruise ships and car trip, in and out of the U.S.

If you don't mind, please share with me some info about yourself - where you live, your law enforcement employer and assignments, etc.

What would you like to do while in the Houston/Galveston area?  Would you like for me to send you maps/literature about this area?

Please advise me detailed info regarding your Houston arrival data - date, arrival time, flight number, etc. and your date of departure.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Clarence A. Hightower

 Hi Alan,

Good to get your response.  Thanks for sharing your personal information with me. If you will provide me your postage (snail) mail address, I will post you a Texas state map, and a tour guide of Texas. When you get this tour guide, check it out for the vast amount of information that it contains about Texas, its history and points of interest.

Presently, here in Texas, the temperature is in the 30's and 40's Fahrenheit.  For unknown reasons, our temperatures has been abnormally low.  Hopefully, by the first of April, the weather will be sunny and warm so you and your family can enjoy the "warm" Texas hospitality that we are known for.

 Service Through Friendship,

 Clarence
